MOSSEL BAY NEWS FLASH - Community leaders of the greater Mossel Bay threaten to make Mossel Bay ungovernable over the festive season if they do not receive the feedback they require within seven days of a public protest on Saturday 28 November.
At issue is the lease agreement the Mossel Bay Municipality has entered into with a private concern for the management of the De Bakke and Santos caravan parks.
A small group of protesters took to the streets on Saturday morning to protest what they believe will be the end of public access to the two Blue Flag beaches at Santos and De Bakke.
No date and time have been set for official feedback but the Municipal Manager, Dr Michele Gratz said the municipality will respond to the organisers of the protest in writing within the next few days.
Despite the municipality's repeated assurance that access to the beach and the various relevant parking lots will remain free and unhindered, the protesters indicated their dismay at the apparent lack of public participation, claiming that the community was never consulted about the municipality's plans to outsource the management of these resorts.
