MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two stores at the Langeberg Mall in Voorbaai, Mossel Bay, were closed this week, owing to Covid-19.
When the Mossel Bay Advertiser went to the stores on the afternoon of Friday, 10 July, they were both shut and notices were pasted inside the store fronts, noting that the stores had been closed temporarily until further notice.
Then, at 16:45 on Friday, 10 July, after the Advertiser had enquired to Pick n Pay, the store group announced in a statement to the Advertiser that the store had reopened.
The spokesperson said in the statement: "Our Pick n Pay Langeberg Mall store has safely reopened.
"The store was temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for the Coronavirus on Thursday afternoon. The staff member had not been at work since Sunday.
"The entire store was deep cleaned and sanitised by a specialist cleaning company and we liaised with health authorities prior to reopening the store on Friday afternoon.
"All staff members who were in close contact with the staff member were sent home to self-quarantine for the requisite period. The remainder of the staff who were not in close contact with the staff member were screened by health practitioners as a precaution.
The statement continued: "The health and safety of our customers and staff is a top priority. We are cleaning our stores even more rigorously, including sanitising all till points after each transaction, and sanitising our trolleys frequently.
