MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers just over a month since their last visit to Mossel Bay to distribute health care donations, handed out food parcels to 100 families today, 23 February.
According to Ali Sablay from the organisation, the selection was based on child headed households, the elderly and those on chronic mediation who are without an income currently.
The donation was made possible by Woolworths and the South African Police Service gave assistance in identifying worthy recipients.
Sablay said that this week’s tour of the Garden Route will also include Oudsthoorn where unemployment is rife following the Covid-19 pandemic’s effect on the tourism sector.
He continued that rural areas surrounding Mossel Bay will also benefit from food donations later this week. “People tell us they are more scared of dying of hunger than Covid-19.”
