MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Sea conditions have been unusually rough this year.
In the Mossel Bay area there have already been three or four heavy wave events, with the latest one the last weekend.
The beach access infrastructure has taken a beating, with Bayview and Diaz beaches the most affected.
Infrastructure at Dana Bay, Little Brak, Kusweg and Glentana beaches has also been damaged.
The rough seas have also exposed old, derelict infrastructure along Diaz Beach and Bayview.
"Contractors were hard at work for most of the past week repairing the damage and beach access has been restored at the Diaz main beach, where the walkway at the main beach close to the hotel and the one near Trio Towers are still closed.
"A contractor is assessing damage at the Dana Bay beaches and the municipality is awaiting the full report," the Mossel Bay Municipality stated yesterday.
