BUSINESS NEWS - Eclipse Marine, a boat manufacturing company in Mossel Bay, will showcase its locally designed and expertly made flagship boat at the Two Oceans Marlin Tournament in Struisbaai from 1 to 7 March.
This 30-foot boat, named ECLIPSE, with a centre wheelhouse design and top-of-the-range Garmin navigation system, will embark on its maiden voyage from Mossel Bay to Struisbaai to both compete in the tournament and allow spectators to experience this exceptional boat that embodies innovation in design.
The boat has been surveyed for sport and recreational use, and will be ready for commercial hire after the tournament.
Designed to accommodate up to 14 people including the skipper, the boat is much more than a fishing vessel. It is spacious and upmarket, with a downstairs cabin, beds and a toilet.
Occupants will be able to prepare hot beverages, ensuring they have a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, should they overnight on the boat.
The vessel is powered by 2 x 300 horsepower V8 Mercury four-stroke motors and is surveyed for 40 nautical miles from shore.
It is one of three 9-metre models developed by the visionary behind Eclipse Marine, Ian Barnard.
The second model has a centre console design and the third has a forward console design.
Eclipse Marine has also designed and is now manufacturing a 16-foot double hull boat in two models, one with a centre console and the other, a forward console.
There are currently 15 models from the range that have been manufactured.
