Heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding is expected over parts of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
Snowfall is also expected in high lying areas.
The weather service says that temperatures are also expected to drop in Gauteng between Wednesday and Friday.
Forecaster Bransby Bulo said: “There is a cold front that is going to pass through the country this afternoon. As a result, it will be very cold in the southern parts of the country... I’m referring mainly to the Eastern Cape and KZN Drakensberg.”
