MOSSEL BAY NEWS FLASH - The Western Cape Health Department this morning released their latest update on meningitis in Mossel Bay.
According to the statement, no new cases of Enterovirus meningitis have been reported in Mossel Bay and surrounding areas since 3 February.
The outbreak is therefore concluded. A total of 42 lab-confirmed cases have been reported and hospitalised from 1 December 2015 – 17 February 2016.
Forty of these cases were children under 12 years of age and two adult cases. All cases received treatment at a private facility in Mossel Bay.
We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and, urge them to continue practicing good hand hygiene in their daily routine and incorporate it as a way of life to keep germs at bay.
