Mkhwebane has responded to advocate Thuli Madonsela's comments that she is spreading 'fake news' and 'lies'.
Last week, Mkhwebane claimed Madonsela owed the Public Protector's office money for a 2012 accident involving her son and for the continued use of a state car after her term.
Madonsela, who says nearly R500,000 has been withheld from her pension fund, insists she owes the office nothing after the Auditor-General cleared her last year.
