MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - The airways around Mossel Bay were abuzz with planes flying around the coastal towns from Friday, 13 November to 16 November.
This was when the 20th fly-in of the Battlefield Country Lodge and Sports Resort in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal, took place at the Mossel Bay airstrip.
Due to Covid-19 the event that was supposed to be held in May in KZN, was moved to Mossel Bay, courtesy of the Mossel Bay airstrip. Pilots, their families and local outdoor enthusiasts attended the event.
According to the chairman of the Battlefield lodge and resort, Lourens Roos, the Natal weather is too rainy and wet this time of year to hold the event there.
Unfortunately a few pilots from all over the country could not attend due to the weather over the weekend in their respective areas as well as due to weather conditions late Saturday and Sunday in Mossel Bay.
For the visitors attending the event, the weekend was a treat, with a braai on Friday with Zulu pap. Saturday included much fun and sightseeing for pilots and passengers.
On Saturday evening everybody was treated with fish and chips, calamari and a Mossel Bay mussel surprise. "Next year the 21st fly-in will be back at our resort in Dundee," says Roos.
