MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Skipper Foundation sailors have not had a chance to get on the water for months now, owner and head of the foundation, Elfie Holden says.
The the non-profit organisation was formed to give children who might not otherwise have the means, the opportunity to sail yachts.
Holden said: "This has been a frustrating time for our sailors, but there is a silver lining, with us being allowed on the water in the near future. Some new Covid-19 systems will have to be put in place and training will only resume in small groups.
"During the lockdown we have had a cry for help. Our sailing family in KwaNonqaba noticed that children were going to sleep hungry, due to families not having an income.
"With the help of our faithful donors, we could provide food parcels to some of these needy families. These parcels consisted of maize meal and other non-perishable foods, as well as vegetables and fruit. Thank you to Cachalot and all our other donors who made this possible," Holden said.
