Broken pieces, not yet glued
12:13 (GMT+2), Wed, 11 December 2013
An ache unhealed
In a heart so fragile
It bleeds
Thousands of uncountable drops of salty water
Filling barrels of disturbed sadness
Overflowing in a world so crowded
No one pays attention

Tears has left but it leaves no void
Replaced by words unvoiced
And pain not conquered

Its throbbing echoes against unperturbed walls
Waking up internal restlessness
Altering the impatient storm

Leaving the situation untouched

One day

One day... I'll fly away. Free... Untroubled... Nothing holding me back. Carefree spirit... No chains... Nothing putting me down One day I'll fly away!

Pretty lady
12:32 (GMT+2), Thu, 28 November 2013
I wanna write a poem about pretty girls
girls with heaps that don’t lie
girls with hands that heal the backs of broken men
bring me a pen my sister
cause I wanna write about you my sister
torn is your heart but you still find the courage to smile

khanindibolekeni usiba
ndibhale,ndibonge ngazo intombi zomzi ontsundu
pretty girls that are capable of articulating their needs
hey my sister hey!
I wanna write about you my pretty lady!

Teach me how to play the guitar
12:30 (GMT+2), Thu, 28 November 2013
Teach me how to play the guitar
and ill walk the streets of Thembalethu with
poetry and music
bring me a drum, not just any drum but a djembed
I want to go in to the streets of Ramaphosa
go stand there by the corner
nesrhumsha,nesrhumshakazi
sitshis'izoli baqhunywe, ndibonge!

Aw puff and pass Mnandi ngendebey'ningi lento
or how about you bring me that violin,
ill play it nice and softly
while reciting and walking the streets of bungalow
apho kuhlala ama bhujwa ase kasi

or how about we take it back to church
where music started, where we communicated with song
remember the tapping of feet and the
clapping of hands

back to where poetry started,
the part of the bible that most preachers
never even look at,
Solomon’s
song of songs

HATE AT FIRST SIGHT
13:21 (GMT+2), Mon, 21 October 2013
Dis meer 'n song wat ek geskry het vir die konteks van my blog, maar dit is heel diep genoeg om 'n gedig te kon wees :-). dis baie donker, maar ek hou daarvan.

Verse 1
It was hate at first sight -right from the start.
You were such a spark where I liked it dark.
I wanted to hide, but your eyes could see
through the cunning disguise of dreadful me

Verse 2
And there you were too – with your know-it-all
and yet I could tell – how you used to crawl
forever missing daddy and wanting it all
You never flew again since the shattering fall.

Bridge
in pain we are born, deceit our only haven
if the light were to see? How broken are we?
Could we ever let go of our shameful lie
and let someone real see us collapse and cry?

Chorus
it was hate at first sight – cause I dragged you to the light!
it was hate at first sight – cause You dragged me to the light!
In darkness we hide – day in and at night
far away from the burning fear of love’s light

Verse 3
At night I dream of love – you accepting me
and I wake up smiling – feeling real happy
for a while I believe we braved the truth
and then I realize – its was just a dream

Verse 4
and so I miss you, dream girl I adore
I die so much more having tallied the score
I crave my disguise but it works no more
I feel the loss so much more than before.

Bridge
in pain we are born, deceit our only haven
if the light were to see? How broken are we?
Could we ever let go of our shameful lie
and let someone real see us collapse and cry?

Chorus
it was hate at first sight, cause I dragged you to the light!
it was hate at first sight, cause you dragged me to the light!
In darkness we hide – day in and at night
far away from the burning fear of love’s light

Verse 5
I know broken bird, that you want to cry
I secretly hope that you’ll heal and fly
My disguise is too heavy to take to the sky
But for us both, Won’t you please try?

Verse 6
I want you to feel all right again
I want you to feel all right again
I want you to feel all right again
I want you to feel all right again

Bridge
in pain we are born, deceit our only haven
if the light were to see? How broken are we?
Could we ever let go of our shameful lie
and let someone real see us collapse and cry?

Chorus
it was hate at first sight, cause I dragged you to the light!
it was hate at first sight, cause you dragged me to the light!
In darkness we hide – day in and at night
far away from the burning fear of love’s light

With increasing urbanisation it is estimated that two million people will migrate to towns in the Western Cape, increasing the burden on resources, such as available land for housing. Are cemeteries reaching their "sell-by date"?
YES: The practice of cremation uses less space, freeing up land for other uses.

NO: The sanctity of a burial can never be trivialised, nor can the price of a piece of land be equated to the value of a life.
