NATIONAL NEWS - With a new school year underway, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has emphasised its zero tolerance approach to bullying.

Visiting the Valhalla Primary School in Elsies River on Wednesday, provincial Education MEC Debbie Schäfer urged parents and learners to report all incidents of bullying.

Late last year, a video of a learner assaulting a fellow pupil at Lückhoff High School in Stellenbosch sparked outrage and again thrust the issue of bullying into the spotlight.
Education MEC Debbie Schäfer says interventions have been taken to curb the scourge.
