Wholesale and retail sector public hearings
11:48 (GMT+2), Tue, 11 September 2012
SOUTHERN CAPE BUSINESS NEWS - The ECC (Employment Conditions Commission) and its secretariat will be conducting a public hearing for the wholesale and retail sector at the George Labour Centre on Tuesday 18 September at 10:00.

The current wholesale and retail minimum wage dispensation lapses on 31 January next year. This therefore means that a new minimum wage dispensation in the sector needs to be in place by 1 February.

Hearings are held countrywide during September. The terms of reference for these hearings are to review wages and conditions of employment in this sector in South Africa.

These public hearings are aimed at obtaining inputs from both employers and employees regarding setting the new minimum wage dispensation for the sector; determining the mechanism to be utilised for the annual increases; and any other conditions related to the operation of the sectoral determination within the sector.

The Labour Centre invites all stakeholders, including individual employers and employees, employer and employee organisations and other interested parties to attend these hearings. In the Southern Cape a hearing will be conducted in George only.

The hearings will take place at the Department of Labour Boardroom, second floor, St Albert Square, 35 Albert Street.
RSPV on/or before 17 September to Magda van der Westhuysen on 044 801 1200.
