SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Artists across the country are encouraged to enter the 2012 PPC Cement Young Concrete Sculptor Awards competition, which offers amazing prizes for original sculpted work in cement.
This year, apart from its Fine Art Sculpture category, the competition introduces a Functional Art category, which allows concrete to be embraced by artists, designers and inventors alike.
Started as one of PPC's centenary celebrations 21 years ago, the PPC Cement YCSA competition remains one of the country's most interesting, creative and long-standing concrete sculptor competitions, and is run in partnership with the Association of Arts Pretoria. The total prize money for this year has been increased to R100 000 in the various categories.
Artworks must be submitted from 11 - 13 September at the Art B Gallery, Library Centre, Carel van Aswegen Street, Bellville, Western Cape. This year, PPC YCSA welcomes Stuttaford Van Lines as the partner in transportation, who will be transporting the finalists' artworks from the collection points to the Association of Arts Pretoria, at no cost to the artist, for the final judging process and exhibition.
