Mossel Bay residents reacted with dismay at the rumour that the huge old Australian Ficus, an alien tree in front of the Bay Side Centre, may have to be removed as part a general upgrade and redevelopment of the centre. The tree was probably planted in the early 1900s. Considering the heritage value of the tree compared to the fact that it is not indigenous, should the tree be removed?
